Michael Blacksburg - Estate Planning
Utilizing current technologies and the comfort of one's own home, Michael has developed a cost-effective, customized approach to estate planning. Michael's ideal clients are individuals and couples who appreciate high value, expert work without the expensive frills of a brick and mortar office. Michael draws on his experiences as a Corporate Trustee to better counsel his clients through the estate planning process: What are your assets that need to be managed? What are your responsibilities that need to be maintained? How do you envision your legacy and support for future generations? Michael uses a combination of written exercises, personalized questions and old-fashioned conversation to help clients craft a plan that works for them. When finished working with Michael, clients receive their personalized estate documents ready for signature. A more hands-on signature approach is available for those clients that prefer such oversight. Michael's background also supports clients in the larger role as a wealth management advisor from the fiduciary point of view. In that role, Michael works with client families and their advisors on regularly evaluating their wealth management needs (estate planning, wealth transfer, specialized asset management, unique beneficiary concerns, philanthropy, family dynamics) and coordinates those investment and fiduciary services with the client family's estate plan.
History
Established in 2001.
Michael provides affordable, friendly, and service-oriented legal counsel. In 2004, AIDS Legal Referral Panel asked him to prepare deathbed wills. It was to be the most moving experience of his legal career. Michael loved helping others preserve the life they love and maintain a legacy beyond their death. He also learned so much about what is truly important to people as they near that passage. In 2014, Michael closed his office to focus on being a Trustee and Fiduciary Advisor through a private bank. Michael deepened his experiences by working with families on administering the very plans he helped document. Michael developed expertise in wealth transfer, specialized asset management, unique beneficiary concerns, philanthropy, and family dynamics and communication. He brings this experience to his current practice, transcending the mechanics of document preparation by becoming connected to what really matters most for clients
